Saudi government is seeking by every means to prevent implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) reached last July between Iran and six world powers, said Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian.
Riyadh's execution of prominent Shia cleric Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr and Saudi efforts to destabilize the region are to compensate for its inaction to Iran's success to reach a nuclear deal with the world powers, Amir-Abdollahian said quoted on Monday by Nozar Shafiei, a senior member of parliament.
Shafiei, the rapporteur of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, said that during his presence at the Majlis commission earlier today, Amir-Abdollahian said that Saudi hopes are pinned on the upcoming US presidential elections.
Saudi Arabia hopes that with delaying the implementation of the JCPOA, changes in US government could affect the course of implementing the nuclear deal, Amir-Abdollahian said.
He believed that Saudi regime's aggressive acts have also been influenced by regional developments.
Amir-Abdollahian expressed hope that the Riyadh government would act wisely and refrain from its aggressive and ambitious behaviors, IRNA reported.
