Fourteen people are confirmed dead and 17 injured after a shooter stormed a Christmas party in San Bernardino, California, on Wednesday morning. The suspect, 28-year-old Syed Rizwan Farook, and his accomplice, Tashfeen Malik, 27, were killed in a subsequent shootout with police.

At around 11 a.m., Farook reportedly entered the Inland Regional Center armed with assault rifles, ABC News reported. He may have been wearing body armor.

Following a dispute at the party, Farook left and returned with Malik, the Los Angeles Times reported.

The shooters reportedly entered the conference room where the San Bernardino County Department of Public Health was holding a holiday party and opened fire.

Fourteen people were killed and 17 were wounded in the assault. A black SUV was sighted driving away from the center.

At around 3 p.m., following a police chase and shootout, Farook and Malik were killed, while one officer was injured.

Police were also investigating reports of a suspected bomb inside the vehicle, ABC News reported. However, the object was found not to be an explosive.

Following the morning shooting and the afternoon shootout with police, a third person was detained. However, it is believed he is not connected to the attack.
