At Least One Killed and Several Injured in Istanbul Metro Blast + PHOTOS

An explosion has hit metro station at Bayrampaşa in Istaanbul, local media report. At least one person killed and several people injured.

Turkey’s Habertürk television said one person had died after the Tuesday explosion which was believed to have been caused by a power transformer.

According to Habertürk TV channel, the explosion has been caused by power transformer.

A large number of ambulances and firefighter arrived at the scene. All train operation have been suspended.

Electricity has also been cut to the southern district of Bayrampaşa and surrounding areas, according to local media.

But according to Reuters, Five people were injured caused by pipe bomb exploded on an overpass near an Istanbul metro station, the district mayor told A Haber television.

Atilla Aydiner, the mayor of the Bayrampasa district on the European side of the city, was speaking on live television after the explosion hit the industrial and residential area near the height of evening rush hour
