The Syrian army, Hezbollah and NDF launched a counter-assault in the Khan Tuman area in Aleppo province, striking al-Nusra Front, Harakat Ahrar al-Sham and Harakat Nouriddeen al-Zinki positions, and killed and wounded a large number of Takfiri terrorists.
They also destroyed 3 armored vehicles that were equipped with anti-aircraft machine guns.
The Syrian army and its allies managed to break-through militants' frontline defenses after a series of fierce clashes and reentering the strategic city of Khan Tuman along the Aleppo-Damascus highway.
The Syrian army, NDF and Hezbollah fighters, backed up by Russian and Syrian airstrikes, inflicted heavy losses on the terrorist groups, seized back new villages and killed a large number of militants in the province of Aleppo, Northern Syria, in the past few days.
The Syrian Army, National Defense Forces and Hezbollah fighters carried out a joint operation against the militant groups in the Northern province of Aleppo and took back Burj al-Rouman village on Saturday.
The pro-government forces' operation near Burj al-Rouman left nearly 20 militants dead.
The militants' military vehicles, equipped with anti-aircraft machineguns, also sustained heavy damage in the army attack.
Also on Saturday, the Syrian air force destroyed the Takfiri terrorists' military positions in Bani Zeid neighborhood in Aleppo, killing tens of terrorists and injuring dozens more.
The Syrian fighter jets precisely hit the militants' positions in villages of Abu Jaloul, Jub al-Kaf and Tibeh in Aleppo province and inflicted heavy losses on them.
Elsewhere, scores of ISIL militants were killed or wounded in the Syrian Air Force raid on their strongholds in the Northern parts of Aleppo province on Saturday.
The Syrian warplanes targeted the ISIL militants' gathering centers and ammunition depot in Shamer village and al-Bab city with many bombs and missiles which ended in large explosions in the terrorist sites and heavy death toll of the militant group.
Also, the ISIL lines of defense in the Eastern parts of Aleppo province were massively bombed by the Syrian fighter jets.
The Syrian bombers targeted positions of the ISIL Takfiri terrorists near Rasm al-Abd, Deir Hafer and Najara with many bombs and missiles, which left many terrorists dead or wounded.
A large number of the ISIL militants' military vehicles and an ammunition depot were destroyed in the air attacks.
Also in the early hours of Saturday, the Russian Air Force targeted the ISIL-held Jirah Airbase in the Eastern part of Aleppo province for the first time, a move that has reinvigorated speculations that the military base could be the next target of pro-government troops in the province.
The sources said that it was the first time since September 30 (the start of Russian air force's aerial operation against terrorist positions in Syria) that the ISIL positions inside and outside of the Jirah airbase came under the heavy bombardments by the Russian fighter jets, which of course inflicted heavy losses on the terrorist group.
It seems that the Russian airstrikes on Jirah airbase will pave the ground for the pro-government forces to launch another massive ground operation to liberate the third key airbase in the country after Kuweires and Marj al-Sultan airbases in Aleppo and Damascus provinces respectively; FNA reported.
