A young child was rescued after trapping his head between burglar bars, Al-Alam News Network reports.

Three-year-old boy Kaikai was left at home by his parents one morning and woke up to find the house empty.

At around 8am, he opened the window of his third-storey flat in Shenzhen city, in South China’s Guangdong Province, and climbed onto the windowsill to search for his parents.

But Kaikai lost his footing, fell, and was left dangling dangerously on the side of the building with his head caught between the metal bars.

Shocked neighbours sprang into action and used a ladder to reach the toddler, holding his head above the bars to prevent him sustaining serious injuries to his neck and spine.

One neighbour said: "The boy’s face was reportedly black and he was out of breath by the time he was freed and taken to hospital."

However, thanks to the timely rescue, reports said the child suffered no permanent damage and will make a full recovery.

In the past few months alone, at least half a dozen similar cases have been reported in Chinese media, with many lucky children saved by brave and quick-thinking neighbours.
