Talal al-Barazi, the governor of Syria's Homs province, said that Moscow's airstrikes have started real change in the battlefield.
"The Russian airstrikes on ISIL positions near the city of Homs will greatly influence the military developments in Homs countryside," al-Barazi told FNA on Saturday.
He noted that Homs province is back to normal life, and said, "A ceasefire is being finalized in Hay al-Wa'er in the Western parts of Homs city."
Al-Barazi said that the militants will leave the city of Homs after the ceasefire goes into effect.
On Friday, the Russian air force launched airstrikes on the ISIL Takfiri terrorists' positions in Homs province.
The Russian warplanes destroyed the ISIL military hardware, arms and fuel depots in the town of Quaryatayn in Homs province in precision airstrikes.
Quaryatayn is located 85 kilometers from the city of Homs and 160 kilometers from Palmyra.
Quaryatayn is of strategic importance because it links Palmyra and the Eastern parts of Qalamoun in Damascus countryside.
The military source in the Lattakia governorate said that the Russian Air Force struck a convoy of the al-Qaeda-affiliated al-Nusra Front that was making its way from the militant-held city of Jisr al-Shughour towards the Lattakia governorate’s Northeastern territory to likely reinforce their embattled comrades.
The sources further added that the Russian fighter jets took off from the Hmeimiyat airfields inside the Bassel Al-Assad International Airport this morning for their operations.
In addition to their airstrikes over Northeastern Lattakia and Northwestern Idlib, the Russian air force is also targeting the al-Qaeda controlled cities of Ma’arat Al-Nu’man, Kafr Nabl, Sarmeen, Ariha, and Saraqib in Idlib governorate.
The Russian military command recently stated that these airstrikes should last up to 4 months; however, they could be extended if the Russian military is unable to destroy the ISIL offensive capacity in both Syria and Iraq; FNA reported.
