Half dozen Russian military advisors flew into Baghdad to meet with senior Iraqi officials to coordinate the use of the Iraqi vast airspace to attack ISIL terrorist group's positions.
Iraq is imperative to Russia’s fight against the ISIL due to its geographical location; without Iraqi coordination, Russia’s airstrikes in Eastern Syria would be limited due to their inability to target the terrorist group along Iraq’s wide-open highways, the sources said according to an Arab media outlet.
The sources further added that the Iraqi government has called upon Russia to fulfill this militaristic endeavor that includes the destruction of the ISIL terrorist group and the restoration of their sovereignty, Massdar reported.
The US-led Anti-ISIL Coalition has been ineffective in obstructing the growth of the terrorist group in both Syria and Iraq; FNA reported.
