Brazil’s Minister of Foreign Relations Mauro Luiz Vieira arrived in Tehran on Saturday in a bid to broaden Iran-Brazil ties and deliver a letter of invitation by Brazil’s President Dilma Rousseff for President Rouhani to pay an official visit to the South American country.

The Brazilian foreign minister met with Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani on Sunday. During the meeting, President Rouhani referred to progressive economy of Brazil and reassure that Iran is willing to enhance ties with a Latin American country like Brazil.

Rouhani referred to the past, saying that Tehran and Brasilia had always shared good ties based on reciprocal interest and voiced hope the new developments in diplomatic visits between the two countries open a new chapter in Iran-Brazil relations.

Iranian head of state underlined the capacity to have interaction in many areas, and stressed on designating the beneficial fields of cooperation as the two countries have taken big steps in science, technology and industry.

Pointing to the visits to Tehran made by numerous foreign delegations who seek lucrative projects in Iran for joint investment, Rouhani reiterated that there is no obstacle ahead of extending bilateral ties as he said it is the time for Brazilians to seize the opportunity of giant projects.

Rouhani voiced hope the surge in activities of the Iran-Brazil joint-economy-commission may lead to more exchange of delegations between the two countries to pave the way for investors of private sectors from both countries.

Vieira, for his part, said his country is determined to have closer and stronger relations with Iran in economic and political fields, adding that the two sides have the potential to play complementary roles for each other’s economy.

He further hailed Iran’s effective role in creating balance and stability in the region, saying Brasilia has always supported and acknowledged Tehran’s positive and historical engagement in regional and international developments; MNA reported.
