The Nigerian Army destroyed camps of the terrorist group Boko Haram in Bitta and Tokumbere, areas in Sambisa forest, in the northeastern state of Borno, something that could hurry the end of the sect up, a military spokesman reported today.
Colonel Sani Usman, Public Relations Director of the Defense Ministry, confirmed important progress in the operation Lafiya Dole, aimed at eliminating the last redoubts of the fundamentalists in that forest region.
In the first half of 2015, Boko Haram lost the majority of the almost 30,000 square kilometers of territory that it occupied by the end of 2014 and was forced to withdraw its forces to bases in the thick Sambisa forest.
