Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani in a meeting with his Tunisian counterpart Mohamed Ennaceur announced Tehran's preparedness to transfer its experiences to Tunis in different fields.

The meeting was held in New York on Wednesday on the sidelines of the 4th World Conference of Speakers of Parliaments, sponsored by the Geneva-based Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).

Ennaceur, for his part, described Iran as an important and powerful country in the region and the world, and said, "Tunisia takes pride in the expansion of its relations with the brotherly and friendly country of Iran."

In relevant remarks, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said in a meeting with Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi in Tunis on Tuesday that Iran and Tunisia pursued the same goals and objectives in combatting extremism and terrorism in regional countries.

"We discussed strengthening bilateral and regional cooperation and I hope that our common views would render help to the settlement of the disputes in Libya, Syria, Iraq and Yemen, and boost bilateral ties," Zarif told reporters after the meeting.

The top diplomat said he conveyed President Rouhani's warm greetings to his Tunisian counterpart and invited President Essebsi to visit to Iran in the future.

During his visit to Tunisia, the Iranian foreign minister also met with Prime Minister Habib Essid and his counterpart Taieb Baccouche, where he underlined that Iran warmly welcomed improvement of all-out ties with the North African country and seriously condemned the spread of extremism, sectarianism and terrorism threatening the entire region.

Zarif left Tehran on Monday for a bi-nation tour of Tunisia and Algeria in the third round of his trips to the regional countries since the July nuclear agreement with the world powers; FNA reported.
