Speaking at a press conference in Tehran on Saturday, Brigadier General Farzad Esmaili said the upcoming war game will cover half of the country directly and the whole airspace indirectly.

A whole host of homegrown products will be employed in the planned drills, he noted.

The commander also enumerated the major achievements of his forces in recent years, including development of home-made radars and air defense systems.

One of the products in the field of detection is “Fath-14” radar, the commander said, adding that it has been stationed in an air defense zone.

He also touched on “Talash” missile system, “Hamyar” interceptor system and “Halqeye Bidar” eavesdropping system as the other local equipment that will be used in the upcoming war game.

Two brand-new radars, namely Dina and Nazir, will be also unveiled on September 1, which marks the anniversary of foundation of Iran’s Air Defense, the commander noted.

With their high precision, the two new long-range radars can detect small flying objects, as well as cruise and semi-ballistic missiles, he explained.

Iran has in recent years made great headways in manufacturing a broad range of military equipment, including the air defense systems that use cutting edge technologies.

Tehran has repeatedly stated that its military might is defensive in nature and poses no threat to other countries.
