Ali Saad Dawabsha, a Palestinian baby, burned to death after Israeli settlers set fire to homes in the occupied West Bank.

Two homes were set alight in an arson attack by Israeli settlers in the Palestinian village of Duma, south of Nablus, in the early hours of Friday. A large fire broke out after settlers threw firebombs and Molotov cocktails into the Palestinian houses.

The baby’s parents and his four-year-old brother were also injured in the attack.

Palestinian resistance movement Hamas said the Israeli soldiers and settlers would now be “legitimate targets for resistance.”

The movement said popular action was needed in response to the killing.

Meantime, Islamic Jihad, another Palestinian resistance movement, said the Israeli regime was responsible for the act of terrorism by the settlers.

“Settlers and the Israeli army’s terrorism will be faced by a Palestinian will that does not accept surrender,” the group said.

Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian president, said on Friday that he wants the International Criminal Court to probe the attack as one of the Israeli war crimes against Palestinians.

“Every day we wake up to a similar crime. This is a war crime and a tragedy at the same time. Therefore we will not stay still. Absolutely not. As long as the settlement and the occupation are there,” Abbas said.

Nabil Abu Rdeineh, a spokesman for Abbas, said earlier on Friday that the Israeli government was fully responsible for the crime as it continued to support illegal Israeli settlement activities and the protection of settlers.

He also blamed the international community for silence over crimes against Palestinians.
