According to a document recently published on WikiLeaks, authorities in Saudi Arabia are looking for a new access point on the Arabian Sea. This implies either a port in the Sultanate of Oman or in Yemen.

The document, originally dated 24 May 2012, and marked "highly confidential and urgent" is attributed to Saud al Faisal, the Saudi Arabian Minister of Foreign Affairs, who was the then heir to Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz.

The document, which was marked with the seal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has Prince al Faisal informing of the need to create a high-level commission made up of members of different ministries in order to "launch a study to find a port for the Kingdom offshore (in the Arabian Sea) through either Oman or Yemen”.
