Clashes in the Saladin province in northern Iraq led to the death of 48 Daesh militants, according to various sources, Anadolu Agency reports.
Lieutenant general Raid Joudat, head of the Iraqi police, said: “Police commandos managed to kill 38 terrorists and destroy 12 of their vehicles.”
The operation took place west of Ramadi city, the provincial capital.
“Iraqi police forces also killed 10 terrorists,” Joudat added in the statement, “following attacks it launched alongside [Iraqi Shia militia] al-Hashd al-Shaabi against a position where Daesh fighters have entrenched themselves.”
