Turkish lawmakers once again exchanged fists and kicks on Thursday night as a fresh brawl between Turkey's opposing political parties erupted after five deputies were wounded on Tuesday night.

Tensions sharply rose during debates on a highly controversial security bill, which the government says is determined to pass despite wide public criticism.

Tensions first ran high after Deputy Parliament Speaker Sadık Yakut, a deputy from the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party) misspelled the name of pro-Kurdish deputy Adil Zozani while Republican People's Party (CHP) İstanbul deputy Sezgin Tanrıkulu was delivering a speech. A brawl erupted between Tanrıkulu and Yakut and it grew after AK Party's Mahir Ünal also intervened.

More deputies from the opposition and the government joined the brawl and CHP Tokat deputy fell on the floor during the brawl, which further escalated tensions.
The deputies exchanged fists and kicks during the 15-minute fistfight.

Four CHP deputies -- Aykut Erdoğdu, Musa Çam, Refik Eryılmaz and Mahmut Tanal -- and a deputy from the pro-Kurdish Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), Ertuğrul Kürkçü, were wounded by members of the ruling party in the brawl in Parliament late on Tuesday.

Erdoğdu was hit in the chest with the Parliament speaker's gavel, while Çam was hospitalized after fainting. Çam, who left the hospital on Thursday, said doctors told him to rest for two weeks due to the injuries to his chest.
