Iran’s ambassador and charge d'affair to the United Nations called on UN officials to condemn the Wednesday attack on Iranian envoy’s residence in Sana’a, Yemen

In separate letters to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and President of the UN Security Council Mahamat Zene Cherif, Gholam Hossein Dehghani also called on the United Nations to confront growing terrorist activities and demand member states to prevent financial and other types of support to al-Qaeda terrorist group.

Dehghani urged Yemeni officials to investigate the car bomb attack on the house of Iranian ambassador to Yemen and bring the perpetrators to justice.

On Wednesday, a car bomb went off in the diplomatic district of Hada in Sana’a, killing three people and leaving several others wounded. No Iranian diplomat was hurt in the incident.

A branch of the al-Qaeda militant group in Yemen claimed responsibility for the blast.

Yemeni Foreign Minister Abdullah Mohamed al-Sayadi has condemned the bomb attack, stressing that Sana’a will seriously follow up on the issue.
