A number of Arab foreign ministers plan to announce cooperation with Washington and the US military to launch a campaign against the ISIL Takfiri terrorists.

Foreign ministers of Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar, as well as an advisor to Jordan's foreign minister, are currently holding closed-door talks in the Saudi Red Sea city of Jeddah on their new venture, Egypt’s official MENA news agency reported Sunday citing a diplomatic source.

According to the report, the unidentified source further stated that Saturday's talks between US Secretary of State John Kerry and Arab League chief Nabil El-Araby focused on plans to confront the Takfiri terror group.

Meanwhile, a senior US State Department official said Kerry and El-Araby "discussed the need for the Arab League and its members to take a strong position in the coalition that is developing against [the ISIL]," press reports said Sunday.

The development comes as the Arab League is holding a ministerial meeting in Cairo on Sunday to address the fast-moving developments in the region.

US President Barack Obama outlined a plan at a NATO summit meeting on Friday for a “broad coalition” to defeat the foreign-backed ISIL terror group, which led an offensive that overran parts of five Iraqi provinces in June and also holds significant territory in neighboring Syria.

Takfiri terrorists currently control parts of eastern Syria and Iraq’s northern and western regions. They have threatened all communities, including Shias, Sunnis, Kurds, Christians, Izadi Kurds and others, as they continue their atrocities in Iraq.

Senior Iraqi officials have blamed Saudi Arabia, Qatar and some Persian Gulf Arab states for the growing terrorism in their country.

The terrorist group has links with Saudi intelligence and is believed to be indirectly supported by the Israeli regime.
