Clashes broke out in villages, including Ras al-Amoud and Silwan, between late Wednesday and Thursday. The demonstrators were protesting the Israeli onslaught on Gaza. Protesters also gathered in al-Quds.
The gatherings come a day after thousands of Palestinians held a funeral for 21-year-old Mahmoud Shawamreh in the West bank village of al-Ram. He was shot and killed during clashes between Palestinian protesters and Israeli troops.
Similar protests have been held in the West Bank cities of Ramallah and Nablus since the start of Israel’s ongoing offensive on the besieged Gaza Strip on July 8.
So far, more than 718 people have been killed and over 4,000 others injured by the Israeli military attacks. Over 30 Israeli soldiers have also been killed in the Israeli war on Gaza.
The Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has been launching retaliatory attacks against Israel.
Many demonstrations have also been held across the world in solidarity with the Palestinians living in the Gaza Strip and in protest against the Israeli regime.
The United Nations Security Council has expressed serious concern over the growing number of casualties in the Palestinian coastal enclave.
