"A big explosion hits a terrorist arms market in Mayadeen, killing 30 terrorists and wounding dozens of others," the television reported on Saturday.

An insurgent leader from the town in Deir Ezzor province told AFP the blast killed at least 15 civilians in a street market.

He said a car bomb was detonated by the so-called Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), the same group which has spearheaded a major terrorist offensive in neighboring Iraq this week.

Meanwhile, Syrian armed forces continued their military operations against foreign-backed insurgents across the country, inflicting major losses on staging grounds of the armed intruders as well as their weaponry.

The Syrian forces further killed and wounded armed intruders during a string of operations against their staging areas in East Ghouta and several other towns in the outlying suburbs of capital Damascus.

Syria has been gripped by deadly unrest since 2011. According to reports, Western powers and their regional allies - especially Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey - are supporting the militants operating inside the country.
