A leading Arabic newspaper has accused Saudi Arabia of being behind recent insurgency in Ninawa and Salah al-Din provinces in Iraq.

Al-Quds-based daily Al-Manar wrote on Thursday that the developments in Mosul and Tikrit have happened after the victory of the coalition of Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and the Law Alliance in parliamentary elections.

Certain states in the Middle East and also out of the region had started arming and funding the Al-Qaeda-linked Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) before the general election in Iraq, the newspaper said.

The recent terrorist acts in Iraq caused great concern among regional countries and worldwide, who warned about the danger of Takfiri terrorists.

According to the daily, Maliki’s success has considered a big blow to the ruling regime in Saudi Arabia, who supports terrorists in Iraq.

Al Saud has accounted for certain Iraqi expatriates to come to power as a result of Saudi-sponsored terrorist acts and millions of dollars reaching to the ISIL, Al-Manar warned.

The Saudi regime along with France and the Israeli regime are the main supporters of the ISIL in Iraq and other countries, it wrote.
