A recently released Taliban captive in notorious US military prison and torture camp at Guantanamo, Cuba has vowed to return to Afghanistan and fight invading American troops in the country.

“After arriving in Qatar, Noorullah Noori kept insisting he would go to Afghanistan and fight American forces there,” a Taliban commander said.

Noorullah Noori was freed along with four other Taliban members in exchange for the US army sergeant, Bowe Bergdahl, on May 31.

In a deal brokered by Qatar, the US soldier was released in Afghanistan’s eastern province of Khost, after nearly five years of captivity. The five Afghan prisoners were sent to Qatar after being released.

The freed Taliban members are currently being treated in a hospital in Qatar.

Afghan President Hamid Karzai voiced anger following the prisoner swap, accusing Washington of making deals with the Taliban without involving the Afghan government.
