Clashes between police forces and some students erupted on Friday as students started to throw fireworks at security personnel, Al-Ahram Arabic news website reported.
According to other media reports, the forces used teargas outside the university`s dormitories to disperse the protesting students.
This is while the university students in Egypt are currently taking their final examinations.
Universities have been a major site for protests and demonstrations by supporters of Morsi, with weekly protests at many sites.
The on-campus protests have often turned violent, with hundreds of students arrested and several killed since the beginning of the academic year last September.
Security forces intensified their presence around Egypt’s capital on Friday in anticipation of protests by supporters of former president Morsi, who was toppled by the country’s military which was led by then army chief and now president-elect General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.
The major pro-Morsi coalition, the National Alliance to Support Legitimacy, called on supporters of the ousted president to launch a wave of protests starting Friday, to be escalated on Sunday when al-Sisi is due to be sworn into office.
