Foreign-sponsored terrorists have detonated two car bombs in the recently liberated Syrian city of Homs, killing 10 citizens and wounding some 42 others as the nation prepares for the country's presidential election next week.

The terror attack on Sunday came as terrorists blew up an explosive-laden vehicle they parked near the garage in al-Zahraa neighborhood, killing 10 bystanders and injuring another 30 in addition to causing major material damage, state news agency SANA reported.

The terrorist acts across Syria appear to be on the rise in an apparent effort by the country’s foreign-backed opposition to discourage citizens to actively participate in the upcoming presidential election, as widely expected.

Meanwhile, 12 more citizens were wounded when another car bomb went off under the Homs Refinery Bridge on the way between Homs and Tartous provinces.

The explosion inflicted material damage in the area and caused a one-meter deep crater.

Homs Governor Talal Barazi later described the terrorist bombings as a desperate attempt to destabilize the liberated city and threaten the safety of Homs residents.

Visiting the wounded of the twin terrorist car bombs, the Governor added that such attacks would not affect determination of Homs citizens to resist the intruding terrorists.

Meanwhile, three children were injured by rocket shells fired by the foreign-backed terrorists on al-Abbasiye axis and al-Arman and al-Madabe'a neighborhoods in Homs city.

One shell landed on the roof of a building in al-Abbasiye Roundabout, injuring the three children, while the other two shells landed near al-Fateh Mosque in al-Arman neighborhood and in al-Madabe'a neighborhood in al-Zahra area, causing material only damage.

Also in Hama countryside, four more citizens were injured by rocket shells launched by terrorists in Mhardeh city.
A source in the province told SANA that terrorists fired eight rocket shells on the northern neighborhood of the city, injuring four more citizens, one of them in critical condition, and causing material damage to private properties.

Two more civilians, one of them a woman, were also killed when two terrorists riding a motorbike opened fire randomly on locals in the town of Hafir al-Foqa in Damascus Countryside, injuring two other civilians.

Terrorists also detonated an explosive device attached to a private car in al-Kisweh area in Damascus countryside, causing material damage.
