Local sources stated that the Israeli regime soldiers on Saturday arrested the child, identified as Mohiuddin Al-Rajabi, near the Ibrahimi mosque in the Old City of Al-Khalil after soldiers manning the nearby roadblock were targeted by a group of stone throwers, Palestine Information Center reported.

Israeli troops and Zionist settlers have recently escalated attacks on Palestinian children in the Old City of Al-Khalil.

Meanwhile, regime forces also raided the Aroub refugee camp in northern Al-Khalil on Saturday morning and set up a number of roadblocks, checking identifications of passing citizens, according to eyewitness accounts cited in the repot.

Settlers in the West Bank often assault Palestinians, vandalizing their properties, cars, mosques and olive trees. However, the assailants are rarely detained.

According to the UN, there were nearly 400 incidents of settler violence against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank in 2013.

More than half a million Israelis live in over 120 illegal settlements built since the 1967 Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories of the West Bank including East al-Quds (Jerusalem).
