A pro-opposition satellite station says it would shut down at the end of the month, citing a lack of funding.

A statement issued by Syria al-Shaab TV said it had tried to continue its operations “without any political line or foreign agendas imposed on us.”

The station said it represented an extended family located in Hawran, and Jordan, and claimed that it had rejected “political funding.”

The station said it hoped to see the release of one of its staff, Abdel-Rahman Batra, who was seized by the terrorist Islamic State of Iraq and Greater Levant (ISIL) in Latakia province.
