Syria’s National Reconciliation Coordinator Hasan Ghandour said Wednesday that the mass return of the city’s residents back home started four days ago.
According to Ghandour, the city’s residents were forced to leave their homes due to the violent conduct of the foreign-backed armed groups and terrorists that had occupied the city.
The Syrian official further estimated that about 40,000 households will return back to their homes within weeks, adding that the Syrian army is cooperating to facilitate the return of local residents.
Al-Moazamiya is the third city, following Qodsiya and Barza that is being revitalized by the return of the residents that were forced out of their homes by the armed insurgents.
The disturbances in al-Moazamiya began nearly 13 months ago, when elements of the al-Qaeda-linked al-Nusra Front and other armed terrorist groups entered the city.
