Speaking to reporters in Ankara on Friday, Erdogan said Iranian officials have called for the expulsion of terrorist groups from Syria and an end to foreign support for them.
He said that some differences still exist between Tehran and Ankara over the Syrian crisis.
However, Erdogan stressed that the Turkish Foreign Ministry and intelligence agency will keep in contact with their Iranian counterparts over the issue.
The Turkish premier made the remarks following his visit to Iran on Wednesday, where he held key talks with Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, President Hassan Rouhani and First Vice President Es’haq Jahangiri.
Erdogan and Iranian officials also held talks over ways to put an end to raging violence in Syria, where the UN says more than 100,000 people have been killed and millions displaced by about three years of foreign-backed militancy.
Erdogan underlined his country's resolve to bring its economic transactions with Iran to USD30 billion by 2015.
Iran and Turkey also agreed to hold a joint economic commission in the near future.
Turkey has widely been blamed by the Syrian government for supporting the ongoing war in the Arab country since it started in 2011.
