A stubborn locust interrupted a tennis match in Qatar, causing former Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani to burst into laughter.

The former Emir than clapped after one of the referees entered the field and grabbed the insect, which stopped the march for nearly half a minute.

A YouTube film published in regional newspapers showed one player tried to capture the locus but it dodged him. It was not clear where the locust came from but neighboring Saudi Arabia had been invaded by massive locus swarms over the past week.

Newspapers said the world tennis match in Qatar is sponsored by the US oil company ExxonMobil.
