Iran Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif says a team will be sent to Lebanon to take part in the interrogation of the man behind terrorist attack on the Iranian Embassy in Beirut late last year.

“Tehran plans to dispatch a delegation to Lebanon to cooperate in the interrogation of the perpetrator of the terrorist attack against Iranian Embassy in Beirut,” said Zarif in a Friday telephone conversation with his Lebanese counterpart Adnan Mansour.

Zarif also conveyed President Hassan Rouhani’s gratitude to Lebanese officials for their efforts in arresting the Saudi mastermind of the attack, Majed al-Majed.

Mansour, for his part, expressed hope that security would return to Lebanon with the capture of al-Majed and other terrorists.

He also thanked Iran for its readiness to cooperate on this issue.

On November 19, 2013, two bomb attacks outside the Iranian Embassy in the Lebanese capital killed 25 people, including an Iranian diplomat, and injured more than 150.

Following the incident, the Abdullah Azzam Brigades claimed responsibility for the bombings.

On Wednesday, the Lebanese government confirmed the arrest of the Saudi commander of the Abdullah Azzam Brigades, Majed al-Majed.
