Hamas made its urgent appeal after a Palestinian group unveiled on Monday serious Israeli diggings beneath the western wall of the al-Aqsa Mosque and the building of a new chapel for Jewish women near the wall.

Hamas warned the Israeli occupation of its persistence in waging an open war on the Islamic holy sites in Palestine.

The Movement also strongly denounced the international silence and the Arab impotence towards Tel Aviv regime’s escalating Judaization and settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian lands.

It called on the Fatah-controlled Palestinian Authority to stop its futile talks with the Israeli occupiers and work on achieving a comprehensive national reconciliation based on a genuine political partnership between all Palestinian factions.

The Aqsa foundation for endowment and heritage warned in a press release on Monday that the Israeli occupation authority carried out recently new diggings beneath the foundations of the al-Aqsa Mosque, particularly under Al-Selsila Gate area to the west of the Mosque.

The foundation affirmed that the new diggings are part of the western tunnel extending down and along the western wall of the al-Aqsa Mosque, noting that it documented Israeli excavations in other areas near the Mosque.

The foundation also said that the IOA had built a new chapel for Jewish women to the western wall of the al-Aqsa Mosque, adding that several chapels had been built in the last few years along the western tunnel.
