The death sentence for the individual, only identified as A.K., was handed down on Thursday after he was found guilty of A military court in the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip on Thursday sentenced a man to death by hanging.

The Hamas-run court found the man - identified only as A.K. - guilty of collaborating with the occupying regime but did not release further details on the case.

The development comes nearly five months after the execution of two other men convicted of collaborating with the Tel Aviv regime last June.

Under the Palestinian law, collaborating with the Israeli occupiers, murder, and narcotics trafficking are all punishable by death.

However, all execution orders must be approved by the Palestinian president before they can be carried out.

But Hamas does no longer recognize the legitimacy of incumbent Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, since his four-year term has already ended in 2009.

Hamas has executed 17 individuals since taking over the Israeli-blockaded Gaza Strip in 2007, according to the Palestinian Center for Human Rights.
