Ali Akbar Salehi said on Tuesday that Amano has accepted an invitation extended to him to visit the Islamic Republic to lead the planned talks between Iran and the IAEA.

The AEOI head expressed hope that Iran and the IAEA would reach an agreement and issue a joint statement.

“The International Atomic Energy Agency has taken the first step with a positive approach and we will also go ahead with collaboration and transparency… and we are ready more than before to cooperate with the agency,” Salehi stated.

He noted that Iranian Ambassador to the IAEA Reza Najafi would lead the Iranian team in talks with the agency in Tehran on November 11.

Iran and the UN nuclear agency wrapped up two days of negotiations in the Austrian capital, Vienna, on October 29, which was described afterwards by both sides as “very productive.”

Tehran and the IAEA agreed to hold the next round of the talks in the Iranian capital, Tehran, on November 11.

Salehi further pointed to Iran’s talks with the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany, saying there are signs indicating that both sides have started getting out of impasse.
“Therefore, we are optimistic about the future of the talks,” the AEOI head added.

He noted that the six major world powers are ready to enter talks with Iran by pursuing a “win-win” approach, which would benefit Iran, the opposing side, and the international community.

Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council - Britain, China, France, Russia and the US - plus Germany held two days of negotiations over Tehran’s nuclear energy program in Geneva, Switzerland, on October 15-16. The two sides have agreed to meet again in Geneva on November 7-8.
