Zarif is slated to take part in the 11th meeting of the Iran-South Africa Joint Cooperation Commission as the head of the Iranian delegation, Press TV reported.
The meeting, due to begin on October 30 after a four-year hiatus, will be co-chaired by Zarif and South Africa’s Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Maite Emily Nkoana-Mashabane.
The top Iranian diplomat will also sit down with senior South African officials, including President Jacob Zuma, said Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian on Monday.
Zarif is scheduled to leave South Africa for Istanbul on Thursday to participate in the 60th Pugwash Conference on Science and World Affairs, “Dialogue, Disarmament, and Regional and Global Security,” which will be held in the Turkish city on November 1-5.
Zarif is scheduled to deliver a speech at the conference and will later head to Ankara for talks with senior Turkish officials.
According to Amir-Abdollahian, the foreign minister will discuss such issues as the forthcoming Geneva II conference and cooperation between Tehran and Ankara to establish peace in the region.
