A suicide bomber has slammed an explosives-laden car into a police headquarters in east Afghanistan, killing three people, including two police officers, as US Secretary of State John Kerry visits Kabul.
Nangarhar provincial spokesman Ahmad Zia Abdulzai said the attack took place next to the provincial police chief's office in the provincial capital, Jalalabad on Saturday.
"The bomber drove the car into the gates of the police headquarters in Jalalabad city," Abdulzai told.
He added one civilian and two officers had been killed.
Nangarhar's police chief General Fazel Ahmad Sherzad confirmed the death toll.
Sherzad added that two policemen and three civilians had also been wounded.
Jalalabad, the capital of Nangarhar province, straddles the main route from Kabul to Pakistan's tribal belt -- a hub for Taliban and al-Qaeda-linked militants.
Afghan insurgents have increased their attacks in a campaign to retake territory. They've been using suicide attacks and roadside bombings across the country.
