Hamas has called for an urgent national meeting with the Palestinian Authority and Fatah movement to agree on a unified Palestinian strategy to deal with Israeli destructive schemes in al-Quds (Jerusalem).

The call was issued by head of Hamas political Bureau Khaled Mashaal on Wednesday during a conference in Ankara, Turkey, on the issue of al-Quds.

Mashaal said in his speech that no Palestinian or Arab or Muslim leader is authorized or has a mandate to sign an agreement that harms al-Quds and the holy sites.

“Protecting al-Quds and the Aksa Mosque against Judaization, demolition and division should be a shared national goal,” he said.

Mashaal called for a decisive Palestinian, Arab and Islamic stance toward al-Quds that rejects any concessions in the city.

“We need to affirm to ourselves, the future generations and the world that al-Quds is the essence of the cause and conflict and a political, religious, national and historic symbol,” he added. “There should be no differing over this.”

The Hamas leader said that building an Arab, Islamic and Palestinian military capability is the only way to restore al-Quds and its holy sites.
The first step toward building such a military force should be to launch resistance attacks against Israel, Mashaal said.

He also condemned the Palestinian Authority for its recent stances in making a deal with the occupying regime of Israel.

Hamas believes the Palestinian Authority is bowing under the pressures form the Israeli regime to undermine Palestinians’ rights.

Mashaal called for an all-out popular uprising against Israel under the motto of “defending al-Quds against demolition and division.”

Israeli regime’s recent illegal constructions and demolitions inside al-Quds and around the al-Aqsa mosque have caused worries and widespread condemnations among Palestinians and other Muslim countries.  Al-Aqsa is one of the most important religious and holy sites among Muslims all over the world.

Al-Aqsa is located in East al-Quds, a part of the internationally recognized Palestinian territories that have been occupied by the Israeli military since 1967.
