Haddad, and former governor of Qaliyubiya, Hossam Abu BakAbu Bakr along with a number of other Muslim Brotherhood members were arrested after security officers raided the Nasr City neighborhood of capital Cairo.

They are the latest members of Brotherhood who have been jailed since a July 3 overthrow of ousted President Mohamed Morsi by the army.

Arrest warrant was issued for Haddad, who was active on social networks regarding violent protests following Morsi’s removal. Haddad had managed to escape the arrest for weeks, according to reports.

Also on Tuesday, an Egyptian court ordered freezing of the assets of senior Brotherhood leaders, including Mohammad Badie, his two deputies Khairat al-Shater and Rashad Bayoumi and preacher Safwat Higazi, as well as Salafist leader Hazem Abu Ismail.

The five are currently detained, accused of inciting the murder of protesters opposed to Morsi.

At least a thousand people have been killed in Egypt since the July 3 toppling of Morsi, comprising mostly his supporters but also scores of members of the security forces.

Morsi, who is being held at an undisclosed location, has himself been charged with inciting killing and violence.

Besides Morsi, the Brotherhood's three top leaders are also in jail, together with the head of its political party.
