The 15-second long video which was posted online on Thursday, had logo of a terrorist group linked to al-Qaeda named “Sham al-Islam Movement”.

Sheikh Badr Eddin Ghazal was kidnapped by terrorists on august 5th in the village of Baroude while he was staying at one of his friend’s.

He was brutally tortured by kidnappers who posted pictures of him covered in blood and beaten up.

There were rumors about him still being captive alive, but two militant groups affiliated with the Islamic State of Iraq and Levant (ISIS) confirmed that he was murdered.

It is not clear when the video was filmed and so faith of the cleric and his being alive is still in doubt.

Syria has been gripped with a massive foreign-backed insurgency that has showed violent scenes of inhuman crimes by extremist militants and terrorists who entered the country to topple the government and rise to power.
