“Qatar represents the US in the Middle East to destroy Syria and restrain the resistance in Lebanon and Palestine,” Ahmad Jibril told al-Alam on Tuesday.
“Since Syria has helped Palestinians to be able to fight the Israeli aggression, an international plot has been hatched to disrupt the resistance movement,” Jibril said, adding that “unfortunately certain Palestinians have missed the right way and tried to liberate Palestine through Qatar.”
“But, the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah was aware of the conspiracy,” he said, noting that “they (Hezbollah leaders) know Israel is after to restore its tarnished reputation in the region by targeting Hezbollah, Syria and Iran.”
The Palestinian leader went on to say that Israeli regime confessed that foreign-backed militants are being treated in its hospitals and “even they sent logistic aids for terrorists in Syria.”
Elsewhere in his remarks, he noted that the European Union’s move to blacklist Hezbollah will be as “a medal of honor for the resistance movement.”
Qatar, along with Saudi Arabia and Turkey, has been widely viewed as the West's main Mideast allies supporting foreign-backed militants who have been fighting the Syrian government.
Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011. Thousands of people, including large numbers of army and security personnel, have been killed in the violence.
The Syrian government has said that the chaos is being orchestrated from outside the country, and that a very large number of the militants operating in the country are foreign nationals.
