Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has criticized Wests bull-in-a-china-shop-like policies in the Middle East affairs especially in Syria.

“Our Western partners sometimes behave like a bull in a china shop - they squeeze in, crush everything and then don’t know what to do next,” the Russian premier told Russia Today in an interview on Sunday.

Medvedev commented on the issue of Syria and said the turmoil in the country was the latest example of the mistaken policies adopted by the West.

He warned the West that interference in the internal affairs of Syria would exacerbate the situation in the country and add to instability.

“We have always believed that the power to solve Syria’s problems should lie with its people. But the active interference that we now see, might potentially lead to the same problems and create yet another unstable country,” Medvedev stated.

Certain Western countries seek to dismantle Syria’s political systems and install a pro-Western regime under the pretext of protecting national interest and human rights, the Russian prime minister said.

“…What is happening in Syria shows that there is a forceful dismantling of a country’s political system under the guise of the fight for national interests, an intrusion into its internal affairs and the installation a loyal political regime.”

Crisis in Syria started in March 2011, when pro-reform protests turned into a massive insurgency following the intervention of Western and regional states.

The unrest, which took in terrorist groups from across Europe, the Middle East and North Africa, has transpired as one of the bloodiest conflicts in recent history.

As the foreign-backed insurgency in Syria continues without an end in sight, the US government boosts its political and military support to Takfiri extremists.

Washington has remained indifferent about warnings by Russia and other world powers about the consequences of arming militant groups.
