In an exclusive interview with al-Alam on Wednesday, Shikh Hassoun said that Imam Khomeini declared the last Friday of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan as the International Quds Day to help freedom of Palestine from the occupation of Israeli regime.
“The resistance of Syria beside the Palestine is for defending humanity,” he said.
“The Palestinians pretty well knew that who supported Gaza against the Zionist regime and the US,” Shikh Hassoun said.
He went to say that Palestinians will confirm that “Syria, Iran and Lebanon paid heavy prices for a strong and liberated Gaza.”
Referring to the crisis in Syria, he warned that the fall of the Syrian government will “spark fire in the Persian Gulf region.”
The unrest in Syria started in March 2011, when pro-reform protests turned into a massive insurgency following intervention of western and regional states.
Many Syrians who sided with the opposition at start of the protests have now turned to side with the government and the army to defend their country against foreign-backed extremists.
