According to army officials, the operation is to clear the remaining hideouts of foreign-backed militant groups in Rif-Dimashq.

In the latest progress of army troops, the biggest hideout of militant groups in the town of Douma in suburb of Damascus was totally destroyed on Friday.

Moreover, the Syrian security forces have foiled the attacks by militant groups in the neighborhood of al-Ghamiri in the suburb of Homs.

On Thursday, the Army destroyed at least two truckloads of arms and ammunition belonging to the militants near a military center in the northern city of Aleppo, the official news agency SANA reported.

In addition, the Syrian armed forces killed many militants.

Syrian security forces also attacked militant positions in areas around the capital, Damascus, making more gains in the Barza and Hujaira districts near the city.

According to military sources, a large number of terrorists, including foreign nationals, were killed in clashes near the southern countryside of Damascus and the eastern district of Ghouta.

Meanwhile, the Syrian Army tanks and armored vehicles reportedly entered the northeastern city of Deir ez-Zor, clashing with Takfiri extremists there.
