The report also says some 40 families used by insurgents as a shield in the Zainabiya region have been freed.
Syrian army forces used guerrilla warfare tactics to rid the area of militants as it was jam-packed with residential buildings. They also defused several bombs. The army advances are still underway in the south Syria region near the capital Damascus.
The Syrian army has conducted successful operations against the foreign-backed Takfiri militants over the past weeks, with the army establishing control over the strategically important town of Qusayr, near the Lebanese border, in early June.
