Supporters of the war in Syria have sent the insurgent groups new packs of heavy weaponry, as concerns are raising higher on increasing number of innocent lives being taken in Syria every day.

"We've received quantities of new types of weapons, including some that we asked for and that we believe will change the course of the battle on the ground," political and media coordinator Louay Muqdad of the so-called Free Syrian Army said Friday.

Muqdad’s comments come as international efforts for making a possible end to the war are facing a deadlock over Syrian opposition refusals to stop fighting and sit for talks.

"We have begun distributing them on the front lines, they will be in the hands of professional officers and FSA fighters," he said.

He did not specify what weapons had been received or when they had arrived, but added that a new shipment was expecting in coming days.

The apparent influx of weapons comes after the United States said it would provide insurgents with "military support," to topple the government in Syria, although it has declined to outline what that might entail.

"The weapons will be used for one objective, which is to fight the regime of (President) Bashar al-Assad," Muqdad insisted.

On Thursday, Muqdad said they needed short-range ground-to-air missiles, surface-to-air missiles known as MANPADS, anti-tank missiles, mortars and ammunition.

Syria is struggling with a massive foreign-backed insurgency that has taken thousands of lives and displaced millions of people.

A the government has gathered all its strength to fight the war which has penetrated to small towns and villages across the country, US and its western and regional allies are pushing for ways to send the insurgents more arms to fight with Syrian army.
