Fresh footage shows Israeli military weapons in Syria’s Qusayr after government forces purged foreign-backed militants from the strategic border city lying across from Lebanon.

The Lebanese television network, Al Manar, relayed images of various weapons bearing Hebrew inscriptions.

The news channel said Friday that heavy weapons including Uzis and Israeli communications devices and rockets were also discovered.

The Israeli military has confirmed that the pictures showed a 120mm shell, used as a flare.

According to the Ynet news, an Israeli official claimed that the latest find is "a desperate ploy to divert interest from Hezbollah's involvement in Syria.”

On Wednesday, Syrian troops seized control of the key city of al-Qusayr following weeks of heavy clashes with militants. Qusayr, which lies 10km from the Lebanese border, was a major supply route for militants fighting against the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

The Syrian army is now in control of most of the towns and villages near the border with Lebanon.
