The Bahraini minister has directed security agencies to look into possible commercial or financial activities by the Lebanese group Hezbollah in Bahrain in order to block the outfit of this resistance group.
The activities to be probed include “financial investments, commercial and economic interests, operations that masquerade as charities, bank accounts and money transfers”.
The possible presence of members of the group will also be investigated.
The decision coincides with the recent announcement by the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC) that member countries will look into their activities in the Gulf region, Shaikh Rashid Bin Abdullah Al Khalifa said in the statement carried by the interior ministry.
Some seven years after Hezbollah and its leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah were celebrated as heroes in the region and the rest of the Arab world for their great victories over the Zionist regime, the tables seem to be turning against this resistance group under pretext of intervening in Syria.
However Hezbollah senior officials said the resistance movement has been protecting the Lebanese living in Syrian border villages.
The movement’s executive council Sheikh Nabil Qauk said that it is Hezbollah’s moral and national duty to help the Lebanese citizens defend themselves against militants in Syria.
“What Hezbollah is doing with regard to this issue is a national and moral duty in the defense of the Lebanese in border villages,” Qauk said.
“To those who ask us to allow our brothers in these border villages to be victims of murders, kidnaps, massacres and expulsions, I respond to you: ‘Can we leave these Lebanese hostage to this situation?” he added.
The Syria crisis began in March 2011, and many people, including large numbers of soldiers and security personnel, have been killed in the violence.
