In a report released by Al-Akhbar newspaper, Jumblatt was in contact with Hezbollah resistance group officials within last two days through Lebanese Minister of Social Affairs Wael Abou Faour, to urge the resistance group to open a safe passage in strategic city of al-Qussair to send out at least 400 injured members of al-Nusra Front.
The report said such demand shows a direct relation of Jumblatt with al-Nusra, whereas it also seems that the Lebanese politician has already provided some financial aids for the group too.
The Druze leader earlier reiterated his support to the “Syrian people's revolution against Bashar al-Assad government.
He told Al-Akhbar that the Syrian people have the right to unseat al-Assad. He also claimed that Hezbollah is looking to cut him down to size in the coming parliamentary elections.
Jumblat also earlier criticized Hezbollah chief Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah's description of the war against Syria militant groups as a “fight against Takfiris.”
During a speech he gave in May at a ceremony marking the 13th anniversary of Israel's military withdrawal from Lebanon, Nasrallah said the Takfiris are the “most prevailing group in the Syrian opposition,” warning over a defeat against them in the ongoing war in Syria.
He said: “If Syria falls in the hands of the Takfiris and the United States, the resistance will become under a siege and Israel will enter Lebanon. If Syria falls, the Palestinian cause will be lost.”
