Iran is equipping all its armored vehicles with reactive armor in order to protect them against shaped charges and munitions, a senior army commander has said.
The system is currently being used in Zolfaghar tanks, which employ a “smart” reactive hull against missiles, deputy commander of the army’s ground forces General Kiumars Heydari said.
“A reactive armor means some sections of the armor are smart against the oncoming missiles and if the missile crosses it and hits the hull, the reactive armor can take in the impact,” he said.
“This system will be mounted on all armored vehicles of the ground forces from this year,” Heydari added.
