The Jordanian Popular Movement has condemned the holding of the so-called 'Friends of Syria' conference in Jordan capital city of Amman, saying that the meeting was against the interests of Jordanian government and nation.

The movement said in a statement that the so-called 'Friends of Syria' conference was to foil the latest achievements of Russia-US over the upcoming 'Geneva 2' conference.

The statement also stressed that the political solution is the only choice to solve the Syria crisis which should be done through Syrian-Syrian national dialogue, adding that Syrian people alone should determine the future of their own country.

For his part, retired Brigadier General in the Jordanian army, Naji al-Zoubi, said the so-called 'Friend of Syria' conference "would only result in more losses and crises for Jordan as well as more pain and bloodshed in Syria."

Writing in an article titled "Enemies of Syria Conference", al-Zoubi, who is the secretary of the Jordanian Journalists and Intellectuals for Supporting Syria, said having accepted to host the aforementioned conference, Jordan would show that it has lost all its consciousness over the current crises in the region and would totally succumb to the world imperialism.

Dismissing the so-called ‘Friends of Syria’ meeting as the conference of the conspirators and traitors, al-Zoubi stressed that the Syrian nation’s strength and resolve are the lonely key factors to determine the Syria fate.

The Jordanian capital, Amman, has witnessed various demonstrations and events protesting the holding of the so-called 'Friends of Syria' conference.

Protests were also staged on Thursday outside the building where the conference was held during which the protesters burned a flag representing the French colonization of Syria.
