Iranian Vice President for Parliamentary Affairs Seyyed Mohammad-Reza Mir-Tajeddini has met with Lebanese Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati in Beirut to discuss bilateral ties as well as the crisis in Syria.

The two sides on Thursday explored ways to boost cooperation between Lebanon and Iran, a statement from Mikati’s office said.

Mir-Tajeddini said after the meeting that the two officials talked about the repercussions of the Syrian crisis.

He said the two sides shared “close and identical” views on the matter.

“We believe that the only way out of the Syria crisis is through a political solution, dialogue and understanding,” he added.

Mir-Tajeddini was accompanied by the Iran’s Ambassador in Lebanon Ghazanfar Rokonabadi during the meeting.
