Ali Asghar Soltanieh said on Monday that Iran is serious about the Wednesday's talks in Vienna and expects positive results.
"We have the meeting with the expectation of progress of course," he told Reuters.
Wednesday's talks in Vienna will be the 10th round of negotiations between the two sides since early 2012.
Soltanieh said earlier that the two sides will meet at the headquarters of Iran's mission to the IAEA in the Austrian capital Vienna on May 15.
The Iranian ambassador also said that the IAEA's delegation will be headed by Deputy Director General and Head of the Department of Safeguards Herman Nackaerts.
The upcoming negotiations are expected to be held at a technical level. Iran and the IAEA have already met for nine rounds of talks since late 2011. The two sides last met in Tehran in mid-February.
The United States, the Israeli regime and some of their allies have falsely accused Iran of pursuing non-civilian objectives in its nuclear energy program.
Iran has vehemently rejected the allegation, arguing that as a committed signatory to the Non-Proliferation Treaty and a member of the IAEA, it is entitled to use nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.
In addition, the IAEA has conducted numerous inspections of Iran’s nuclear facilities but has never found any evidence showing that Tehran’s nuclear energy program has been diverted toward military objectives.
